my vps server is barely used, any recommendations for what to host?
This post was accidentally posted in an undone state because I forgot the pushing no longer only works via git. When you read it now, it’ll be done.

This blog is hosted on a small Hetzner server with two cores and 4gb ram. But even tho it is pretty much the smallest one they offer, it still has as good as no load on it.
Which could in one aspect be seen as good, but I mainly see it as not getting the worth of what I pay for.
So I’ve decided to host some services that don’t depend on data and are just meant to be used occasionally.
That way I don’t have to worry about backing them up and can just provide them without worry.
At the point of writing I’ve hosted the following:
drawio

stirling pdf

uptime tracker (uptime kama)

Am thinking about hosting the following too:
- penpot
- peertube (only for my videos, without other users, but there should be a simpler alternative available)
- excalidraw
- ntfy
- …
for whom to use
I will probably not promote them in any way, maybe just add the status page to the blog but nothing more.
I don’t want to be accountable for them too much, so primarily I’ll use them for myself and friends. E.g. to rearrange a pdf there are a lot of weird programs and websites that make a shady impression, in that situation I’m glad to just be able to tell a friend that they could use draw.d-rens.xyz.
But feel free to use them too :).
